I had in mind from the onset of the workshop that I would use del.ci.ous http://del.icio.us/ . Unfortunately, a work project took priority and I was unable to establish my bookmark list on this site. While the workshop has since concluded, I thought the practice of using this sloan-wiki would still be good for me even if I do not have an audience!

I would find it immensely useful to have an online site for bookmarks. I am frustrated with students using unacceptable sources such as blogs for their theoretical foundation in their assignments. I tend to provide them with Internet alternatives in each class but these are a bit to maintain as webpages move or are removed. I believe having one site to which they will be referred for all Internet sourcing will eliminate a large part of the problem, leaving behind those students who simply do not follow instructions under any circumstances!

It will also be useful for faculty

Became aware of prepackaged bundles of feeds, arranged by topic. Looks like a path to rapidly plug in! Three feeds on Security were selected to provide some preparation for security class next semester. Spent some time over the weekend to use Google Reader and maintain awareness of selected topic - effective and saves time.
Compared the features of another RSS reader, NewsGator with Google reader - behavior is similar with different user interface to obtain behavior. The NewsGator has additional enhancements to "learn" from the user preferences and selections - Google reader enhancements are obtained within the Google environment.
on podcasts. podcasts. This feature, to share links and folders of collected links would be very helpful for quick reference and community building. I find the same characteristics through classes, available with Moodle.

Worked through short Google tour on using the Google readers as an RSS reader. This will provide information and insight into using an RSS reader, although I believe a reader integrated into Firefox would remove the need to log in to Google to see feeds (eases use).
Became aware of prepackaged bundles of feeds, arranged by topic. This activity provided a wonderful opportunity to delve into RSS/aggregators, which I was aware of, but kad little practical knowledge. My thoughts were focused on the need to identify sites of interest and then construct/implement an aggregator in a convenient way. The imagines audience for profing this exercise is the students in the fall information systems class. Much as we learned about creating a podcast and using Google docs for collaboration, becoming minimally proficient with RSS value and practice would be useful. Ideally, this tool serves to keep us informed of developments, with lower "search, browse + read" requirements.
Steps taken to increase awareness and proficiency:
Worked through short Google tour on using the Google readers as an RSS reader.
Classmates,

I looked over every Web 2.0 application cited in this class and decided there were a few that I really liked both for classroom and personal reasons. They include: PBWiki, Fickr, Technorati, and Powerset. As such, it was worth the effort to take this class. As well, I got to witness the power of Web 2.0 with our online interactive sessions.

I am very sorry I could not spend more time with you all, but I'm overbooked. Someday I'll cut back....
