Here is my second try at this.  My first effort seemed to have disappeared into the ether.

Anyway. 

The application is called Google Docs.

This allows students to create Word documents online.  Our standard requirement for word processing software is Word, which some students don't have.  They can use this or Open Office to access this Word compatible software. 

I'll need to do more evaluation of this to better determine how effective it would be for students, some of which lack some basic computer skills and really need to be led by the hand through any activities.  But this looks like a good source.
